He’s been shot nine times. Incarcerated. And stabbed up and down. And that’s only what’s happened on 50 Cent’s down time. Hands down, 50 Cent is the biggest buzz emcee since Eminem (who just happens to be his label CEO), and Get Rich also features Dr. Dre on production, so it’s a can’t-miss record, right? Well, mostly. Get Rich is not filled with midtempo, radio-friendly numbers like “Wanksta,” his thinly veiled Ja Rule dis first heard on the 8 Mile soundtrack. Instead, Cent brings the heat, not heater. He sheds his inner thug on “21 Questions,” featuring G-funk crooner Nate Dogg showing some semblance of respect to the hotties, and then reverts right back to his thug persona on “In da Club,” where he boasts “I’m into having sex, I ain’t into making love.” There’s no “How to Rob, Pt. 2″ here, although “Many Men” comes close, as he addresses some of the haters who may not fully get why he’s now rap’s big cheese. Surprisingly, the two Eminem-produced joints–”Patiently Waiting” (which thematically is very much like Em’s “Lose Yourself”), and “Don’t Push Me”–almost rival the beats supplied by Dre. Then again, it seems his most well-known cuts (“High All the Time” and “Wanksta,” for example) are actually some of the weakest of the lot. Sure, Get Rich could never have lived up to the hype, it’s nowhere near Biggie’s Ready to Die or Nas’s Illmatic, but there’s no fast-forward material here, a near miracle in these times. –Dalton Higgins

When this is what’s hot…that’s perfectly clear. The highlight of this album is “Many Men,” and most 50 fans hate that particular track. The first single was the weakest track on the LP. “21 Questions” is another mediocre radio hit saved by the vocals of Nate Dogg, while “P.I.M.P.” is another pseudo-Southern hit saved by Snoop Dogg’s indestructability. The rest of the tracks just kind of blend into each other. The beats are nice to listen to, while not very original. The rhymes are even less so. Save yourself the money and the trip to the record store, download the singles, and wait for the next peon to come along.

This is a great cd to just listen to, though I wouldn’t play it too loud when your parents are around. It’s not exactly the Mona Lisa of cds, but if you can get it with cash to spare, Id buy it for some head boppin beats and original lyrics. 5o has been overhyped, however. He doesn’t live up to it. He’s still pretty good though, but he’s no way the next biggy or tupac.
1.Intro-Nuthin much. A coin droppin.
2. What up gangsta-A cool song with a fast beat. Good to sing along to
3.Patiently waiting-Awesome. 50 and Eminem rap great in this dark, moody song.
4. Many men- I don’t like it, the song is slo and a little boring. Talks about people shooting him.
5. In da club-Dif. from radio version, but u know how it goes.
6.High all the time-It sounds stupid, but’s a real good song.
7.Heat-Don’t play very loud, but its not that good anyway.
8.If I can’t- Nice, bouncy, lite ‘without me’-esque song.
9.Blood Hound-Nuthin spesh, but not bad.
10.Back down- Ja Rule diss in a cool beat.
11. P.I.M.P.-One of my fave songs, better than the remix with snoop dogg..
12.Like my style- To lite 4 me, but u might like it.
13.Poor lil rich- Listen to it once, just in case u might like it.
14.21 Questions-Great love song with the 50 twist, but it’s been played on the radio too much.
15. Don’t push me- Great dark song, equal to patiently waitin.
16. Gotta Make it to heaven- Great song to chill out 2.
Bonus cuts- Above average.
I would buy this album. Fifty shows a lot of promise with most of the songs, and with a little polishing he could be one of the best. However, lets hope he stops with songs like poor lil rich, blood hound, like my style and Heat.
