I bought this on the basis of several reviews here, and on recommendation from some listeners of Loreena McKennit, and I must say I was extrememly disappointed! This is merely the sort of aimless rubbish that has plagued piano bars and patchouli shops for years….. Never offensive, challenging, or requiring any effort or desire on the part of the listener to engage with what the composer is trying to communicate (there really isn’t anything there!), it might be suitable for some occasion requiring some sort of background ‘noise’ that does not intrude, but I can’t think of any other purpose. No scope is given to any of the musicians to actually do anything with any drama, skill or flair, and in fact, other than a quick intro here or there, I couldn’t see how any of this couldn’t be (or perhaps was!) reproduced with a synthesizer program and eliminate the musicians altogether. Note, I do not mean a synthesizer being played, just a synthesizer program ‘doing its own thing’! If you are hoping for something like the magic of Loreena McKennit (which really does throw you off into some very far off places and times), then don’t bother with this at all (I threw mine away after the first hearing!).

I bought this based on other review I read on Amazon cold-turkey. It’s nice, but not up to the calibur of other albums I have in the same genra.
I wouldn’t not recommend it, but I wouldn’ rave over it either.

This is Mehdi’s best CD by far….I loved it! His earlier works are good but, to my ears, he spoiled many fine compositions with his heavy handed use of programmed percussion. Not so in Instrumental Paradise, where electronic drumbeats no longer dominate Mehdi’s music. Thank you Mehdi for creating this masterpiece of New Age Jazz!

After listening to his previous works, I thought, “He’s not gonna top them!” Boy, was I wrong! You start out listening to this and think it’s the “same old Méhdi” – and it is… kinda. His arrangements are still deliciously mind boggling in their simplicity and he goes from one mood to another without losing the mindset he’s put you in from the very first track. I’ve been a musician since I was seven and while I’ve dreamed of writing the kind of music on this CD, Méhdi lives it.

This album carries a fair amount of world influences in each of its songs. It’s got rhythm in most of its songs and has a passion to the entire album that is very energizing. Although it’s relaxing it also energizes. The whole album has a sort of “journey” or “travelling” feel to it. Horses also seem to be a minor theme of the album.
One thing I do like about all of his music is that it’s not distracting and I often find myself humming the melodies even when it’s finished. I like to listen to it while drawing, reading, crafting, or Driving.
