This PBS production brings back fond memories! Best of all,it is absent of all the “appeals”!!

Great video, It will be a classic in the coming years as these entertainers are dying at a fast rate. They are still as good as they were in the old days considering their age.

Seeing what’s become of the rock and roll legends I remember from when we were much younger, I found very depressing. I’d rather remember them the way they were 40 yrs ago. Even Jerry Lee looked like he was ready for the nursing home.

This was an enjoyable DVD, but I was a little disappointed by the song selection of some of the acts. For example, I would have liked to see Leslie Gore sing “It’s My Party” or one of her more known songs. It also would have been good to have her sing more than one song. The intro of the acts could also have used more build-up and background. I have the Time-Life DooWop DVD’s and Jerry Butler does a great job of that. I was also expecting to hear Gary Puckett sing, but he only appeared briefly as a host. Not exacly what I expected when I ordered this video.

Rock and Roll At Fifty is a must for pop music fans. Performances by
Jack Scott, Brian Hyland, Johnny Tillotson and Lesley Gore are first
class all the way plus all the others on this five star DVD are just
sensational as well. This is a thoroughly professional production with 22
solid performances plus backstage interviews with Bo Diddley, Darlene Love and Paul and Paul. As I said, it’s a must for pop music fans.
